Metal free crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays
Metal free crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays
If the damage to the tooth is substantial, particularly on the back teeth, then an inlay or onlay could be fitted. Inlays or onlays can be made from several strong materials such as metal or porcelain.
An inlay/onlay is a small laboratory made filling that fits into the biting surface of a tooth. Modern dentistry allows these restorations to be made of highly aesthetic and durable porcelain.
If few or more teeth are missing a metal free dental bridge might be a good option to close spaces. Made of extremally durable porcelain it helps to restore lost function, closes the gaps and makes the smile more aesthetically pleasing.
Metal free crown (cap) is a type of dental restoration which is used to repair teeth which are broken, weakened by decay, have been heavily restored by large fillings or have been root canal treated.
Typically, 2 sessions are required to fit a bridge/crown/inlay/onlay.
Session 1: teeth which need treatment are shaped and an impression is taken. The impression goes to the dental laboratory.
Session 2: the restoration fitted securely on top of the teeth.
Benefits:
- Gaps are closed with a permanently fixed restoration which does not need to come out daily
- Beautifully restored teeth within relatively short span of time
- Improved aesthetics and function
