Root canal treatment

Effective treatment for a healthier smile

When the pulp of the tooth (the nerve) becomes infected, it needs to be removed from the inside of the tooth.

The infection of the pulp tissue can be caused by bacteria that live in the mouth and have managed to make their way into your tooth, either by:

Tooth decay.
Leaky fillings.
Dental trauma.
Repeated dental treatment on a tooth.
Deep cracks in the tooth.

RCT requires approximately two appointments under local anaesthesia. During these appointments, the infected tissue will be removed using specialised small files.

The inside of the root canal is then cleaned, disinfected and shaped with these files. This removes all the bacteria from the inside of the tooth. Once the root canal has been cleared of all bacteria, the tooth is filled with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha.

A filling would then need to be placed on top of the gutta-percha. In the back teeth, a crown is ideally recommended to prevent tooth fracture.

I am a nervous patient and haven’t been for years, but I can safely say that I no longer fear the dentist, as he is the best I have ever been to. I see many dentist but ACTON DENTAL CARE its high level. Im never see explanation about my tooth how Dr. Dr. Klaudiusz Krolikowski done for me. On my first visit he show me and explain me every single my tooth with all detail (what i have to do in fucture and now). Dr Klaudiusz its very profesional calm and patient person. High recommended this clinic. Also thank you for women on reception she was very kind and very helpful. Staff very very friendly. Maybe that its crazy but first time i feel very welcome on dentist clinic. Thank you again.

Dr Krolikowski and the team at Acton Dental Care are exceptional! I first met Dr Krolikowski when he treated my wife's incredibly infected & painful tooth on an urgent basis, providing immediate relief and compassionate care. Now my daughter is starting her Invisalign treatment at Acton Dental Care and the experience so far has been wonderful and thorough.
