Crowns
Crowns
A crown (cap) is a type of dental restoration which is used to repair teeth which are broken, weakened by decay, have been heavily restored by large fillings or have been root canal treated.
Typically, 2 sessions are required to fit a crown.
Session 1: tooth which needs treatment is shaped and an impression is taken. The impression goes to the dental laboratory.
Session 2: the crown fitted securely on top of the tooth.
Benefits:
- Strengthens remaining tooth structure
- Natural-looking restoration
- Functions like a real tooth, so you can bite and chew as usual
